![]() The guide discuss about all the configurations for each supported Intel CPU series. Since the release of Clover v5123, OpenCore is integrated to enable boot into Big Sur. This will only allow to boot off your system. As it's a basic ist creation guide, so only important sections has been discussed. This will cause less trouble and speedup the installation process. Once you install, you can add the other options later on. It's good to have a minimal configuration and options set before you install. However, for few systems, such as Xeon, High End CPUs, Workstations, Server, X99, X299, you might need to tweak your ist.įor Laptop users, a separate thread is available. This guide covers a creation of basic ist which will allow to boot most of the systems. The best way to edit a ist is to use some specific tools like Clover Configurator, Xcode, Plist Editor Pro etc. But we don't recommend you to use a text editor as it has a chance of ist file corruption. The configuration file is written in XML and can be edited using a text editor. It can boot into some installation but when talking about the majority, it will fail to boot on most of the newer machines and high end builds.Īlso, it's a good idea to create a ist for each specific system which will exclude the errors and trouble while installation and you can easily boot into macOS installation. The ist which is installed by Clover Boot loader, is the default ist and is not optimised for all the systems. If the ist is already present, it will be renamed as backup ist or remain untouched. Without a ist, no machine can boot into macOS.Ī basic ist file is automatically created while installing Clover Boot loader at /EFI/Clover/. The ist is a system configuration file for the Hackintosh and allows to boot macOS. the video card seems to give me full GPU acceleration and works fine with the web drivers.By following this guide, you'll be able to create a basic ist for booting macOS on Desktop. How can i safely remove it to test if i need it or not? If i do get kernel panic, could i still boot back into OSX with a boot disc?(Like the one i used for the install) What about FakeSMC, do i need that too?Īnd last, can someone give me some info on what i can try to test if everything is fully working in my hackintosh setup? So far i see no problems but i don't know if i am getting full performence from my CPU and Video card. But i've also read that removing it can cause kernel panic on boot. ![]() I've read that nullcpupowermanagement\.kext could be why. My computer can go to sleep but when i wake i have a blackscreen. So Why should i care for EFI? And if ever i want to go the EFI route, would i need to reinstall OSX from scratch since i installed it with the bios set to legacy?Ģnd question is about sleep. ![]() Will EFI give me better performence? I've read that i can safely updade OS X without fear of bricking but i did the 10.10.2 update and it worked fine. What other advantages does EFI have? My hackintosh seems to be fully working now except for sleep which gives me a blackscreen on wake. My question really is, do i need EFI? From what ive read it gives faster boot times but it's not really something i care about. (For windows 8 i have to change to storage mode to RAID AHCI tho) I then installed Chameleon and i can boot perfectly fine into OS X and Windows 8 now. I finally found out how to deleted the EFI partition and got rid of Clover. I had tried with legacy or EFI and though EFI got me further neither would boot. No matter what option i choses in Clover configurator it still wouldn't boot. I tried installing Clover bootloader but that made my system unbootable. My mother board is currently set to Legacy but i have the option of EFI. I think all my hardware is fully functioning but then again i am not sure how to check. Everything seems to be working very well. So i've succesfully installed OS X Yosemite 10.10 on an HP Z420 with a Xeon e5-1620 Sandy Bridge CPU and Quadro K4000.
